We are entering the heart of the SCOUT project, which is why it is becoming increasingly important to be able to establish the guidelines that sports clubs will have to follow in order to be able to implement the activities envisaged by the program in a coherent and consistent manner. To do this, two documents were drawn up, one dedicated to the recruitment process, D2.2. GUIDANCE RECRUITMENT REPORT, and one dedicated to the implementation plan and sustainability of the project, D2.3 SUSTAINABILITY ACTION PLAN. The two documents have been successfully uploaded to the project platform and can now be implemented by the partners.
To be more efficient in recruiting the 30 players (10 from each club that we have as a target) UniVic has organised the recruitment plan in 3 phases: 1ST PHASE: Identifying vulnerable girls between 8-12 years in the clubs’ local area; 2ND PHASE: How can the club convince identified vulnerable girls and their families to try for a few training sessions and to participate in some meetings to understand the club culture- sport competitive dynamics and to commit to the project; and 3RD PHASE: How do the clubs retain vulnerable girls to play for them for at least 1 season (2023-2024). In this process the key actors are sport clubs and public administrations, aimed to the engagement of schools and local associacions.
Once the recruitment process has begun, it is fundamental to be able to sustain the project, also from a financial point of view. Once the funding time of the European Union project has passed, the girls must remain part of the club, and some help that we could go to keep the girls in the teams are: sponsors interested in collaborating with solidarity and social programs; municipal and institutional subsidies; and family initiatives such as setting up bar service on the pavilion or selling t-shirts (among others). These financing are important not only to absorb the costs to allow vulnerable girls to participate, but also to actively stimulate players, coaches and families with health programs, dual carreers mentoring and extra-sport activities.
