The second international SCOUT tournament has just ended, involving more than 120 girls, aged 9 to 15, from Italy, Spain and France. The three delegations were in Modena from 28 to 30 March and took part in the Anderlini Spring Cup tournament and Trofeo Bussinello, a traditional Easter tournament organized by Scuola di Pallavolo Anderlini. Each took part in the event with two Under 11 teams, one Under 13 and one Under 16.
SCOUT (Sport Club Opening Up To all girls’ Participation) is a European Erasmus+ Sport project co-funded by the European Union, which works to test and evaluate a new youth sport program that facilitates access and opportunities to engage in activities organized sport for girls aged 8 to 12 at risk of social exclusion.
The partnership sees Ae Carles Vallbona (Spain), as a leader; Istres Provence Volleyball (France); Universidad de Vic (Spain) and Group de Recerca Educacio Fisica di Vic (Spain) as academic partners responsible for impact assessment; AIC (Germany), responsible for the implementation of the pilot program, and Anderlini who deals with the communication and dissemination of the project.
During three days of the Spring Cup and Trofeo Bussinello the various French, Spanish and Italian teams had the opportunity to get to know each other and compete, playing and competing together and sharing many memorable moments. The atmosphere that reigned during the matches between the different teams was one of fun and light-heartedness.
The highlight of the three days was the afternoon of Friday 29th with the Volleyball Without Borders event, a parade organized by Scuola di pallavolo Anderlini in collaboration with Modena Amore Mio with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and Panathlon Modena.
The afternoon celebration began at 3.00 pm, when the 18 female and male Under 11 delegations met in Piazza Roma to kick off a non-competitive mixed tournament. To encourage mutual international comparison, mixed teams were created for both nationality and sex, and in addition, multilingual Let’s Speak Volley guides were provided through which the various coaches were able to give the main volleyball commands in the foreign languages of the countries present (Italy, Spain and France).
At the end of the non-competitive tournament, Pallavolo Senza Frontiere parade began, involving kids from all over Italy and Europe (France, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany).Over 1800 children aged 9 to 17 marched through the streets of the center of Modena with the main objective of raising awareness among all athletes and citizens about social inclusion in sport. On the third day of the tournament, at the end of the matches, the awards ceremony took place: all participating teams were given plaques commemorating the two events. In addition to this, to close the three days of the Spring Cup and Bussinello Trophy tournament, again on the theme of social inclusion and to promote the Scout project, they awarded a special prize to the teams of Ae Carles Vallbona and to their President Joan Carles representing all Partners of the Scout project.
To conclude, Scuola di pallavolo Anderlini thanks all the partners of the Scout project for participating in the Spring Cup and Bussinello Trophy tournament, a big thank you to the Nancy Volley Ball club and to Ae Carles Vallbona for having given the opportunity once again to demonstrate and promote inclusion in sport together, especially for girls and boys at risk of social exclusion. We can’t wait to all get together to participate in the next tournament!
