The third and final international tournament of SCOUT, the European Erasmus+Sport project co-financed by the European Union, which involved over 200 girls from Italy, France and Spain, ended on Sunday.
On Saturday, the three tournaments of the Cadet, Infantil and Alevì categories took place on different indoor and outdoor fields of the Granollers sports complex. The 24 teams that took to the field, coming from the project’s partner clubs and from the areas surrounding Granollers, battled it out on the fields. The tournaments, which lasted all day and Sunday morning, were played in a completely friendly spirit with the main objective of having a sporting experience of international exchange.
At the same time as the field competitions, all the partners met for the operational Steering Committee, aimed at reviewing the last documents for the start of the final phase of the project, whose official closure is scheduled for December 31, 2024. The next international event of the SCOUT project will be the final one of the Final Conference, scheduled for November 21, again in Granollers, home of the project coordinator AE Carles Vallbona.
SCOUT (Sport Clubs Opening Up To all girls’ Participation) focuses on institutionalised sport practices, or otherwise known as organised sport, which take place through sports federations and clubs. The focus on organised sport was chosen because clubs tend to be considered the privileged environment for sport, especially for children and adolescents. Evidence to date indicates that participation in institutionalised sport can play an important role in a child’s or adolescent’s development in several aspects: social, motor, emotional, behavioural and psychological. Sport practice is at the epicentre of the extracurricular activities that young people carry out today and which occupies them most outside of family environments (excluding school).
The partnership has AE Carles Vallbona (Spain), as the lead partner; Vandeuvre Nancy Volley Ball (France); Univesidad de Vic (Spain) and Grup de Recerca Educacio Fisica de Vic (Spain) as academic partners responsible for the impact assessment; AIC (Germany), responsible for the implementation of the pilot program, and Anderlini who will take care of the communication and dissemination of the project.
