The activities of SCOUT, the Erasmus+Sport project funded by the European Union, are officially getting underway, with the aim of promoting the inclusion in sport of girls between 8 and 12 who are vulnerable and at risk of social exclusion.
In recent days, Anderlini hosted a special guest, Carlos Prieto, former national handball athlete, bronze medalist in Beijing 2009 with the Spain shirt, now president of the NGO Athletes Inspire Children (Germany). From Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 March, Prieto met over 60 people, including Under 11 and 12 athletes, parents and staff, with the primary objective of shedding light on the SCOUT (Sport Clubs Opening Up To all girls’ participation) project, to which Anderlini has been a partner since 2022. The training activity touched on topics of great importance and impact on the lives of young athletes such as nutrition, time management, the importance of rest and the benefits of sport.
The visit to Anderlini closes the European tour of Carlos Prieto, who in the previous weeks visited the other sports partners of the SCOUT project. The partnership sees AE Carles Vallbona (Spain), as lead partner; Istres Provence Volleyball (France); Univesidad de Vic (Spain) and Grup de Recerca Educacio Fisica of Vic (Spain) as academic partners responsible for impact assessment; Athletes Inspire Children (Germany), responsible for the implementation of the pilot program, and Anderlini who is currently dealing with the communication and dissemination of the project.
The goal that all the sports partners have set themselves within the project, which will last until the end of 2024, is to involve at least 10 girls between the ages of 8 and 12 at risk of social exclusion in their area. Among the focuses, therefore, of the meetings held in recent days there was therefore the need to plant the first seeds in the teams and staff, thus starting a training period, which will make the various players in society ready to welcome vulnerable girls.
In the next period, the University of Vic will launch online training for coaches and in June the teams of Anderlini and Granollers (Spain) will be protagonists of the first international exchange in Istres (France).
