It is with great pride and satisfaction that we present the initiative “Pallavolo Senza Frontiere: the inclusive parade in the heart of Modena”, organized by Scuola di Pallavolo Anderlini in collaboration with Modena Amore Mio with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and Panathlon Modena.
“Pallavolo senza Frontiere”, will take place on Friday 29 March in the center of Modena and the day’s program includes two moments, one for play reserved for the Under 11 category and one for greeting and presentation to the Citizens in which over 1500 athletes will take part of Spring Cup and Trofeo Bussinello.
The afternoon of celebration will start at 15.00, when the 18 female and male Under 11 delegations registred for the 2024 edition of the Spring Cup will meet in Piazza Roma to kick off a non-competitive mixed tournament with and internation flavor. To encourage mutual comparison, mixed teams will be created by drawing lots both by nationality and gender and multilingual Let’s Speak Volley guides will be provided through which the various coaches will be able to give the main volleyball commands in the foreign languages of the countries present (Italy, France and Spain). The event will be organized with the support of Decathlon which will provide nets and equipment.
The tournament that will be played in Piazza Roma – as well as the entire Anderlini Spring Cup 2024 and the Trofeo Bussinello 2024 – are part of SCOUT, a European Erasmus+Sport project co-financed by the European Union, aimed at promoting inclusion in sport of girls aged between 8 and 12 who are vulnereable and at risk of social exclusion. The SCOUT project sees the participation, in addition to the Scuola di Pallavolo Anderlini, of the Spanish team AE Carles Vallbona and the French team Nancy Volley Ball.
Starting from 17.30 – after the Under 11 tournament – all the other teams registred for the Spring Cup and the Trofeo Bussinello will begin to arrive in Piazza Roma, in view of the Inclusive Parade which will start at 18.00. Over 1500 girls and boys aged 9 to 17 from all over Italy and Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany) will parade through the streets of the center of Modena up to Piazza Grande, where the over 120 delegations will receive greetings from the City Authorities.
The parade aims to raise awareness of athletes and citizens on the topic of social inclusion in sport, as indicated by the Erasmus+Sport SCOUT project co-financied by the European Union. The kids will divide into two processions, which will color the streets of the center of Modena. The Banda Rulli Frulli and the newly created Rock’n’Rulli will participate in the event, the marching bands all from Modena made up of girls and boys, teeangers and young adults, able-bodied and disables people who play self-built percussion instruments by recycling waste materials.
The logistical support of the Italian Red Cross-Modena Committee will be fundamental, which will position a pneumatic station in Piazza Roma for the rescue of the participants, as well as an ambulance and will assist the organization of the entire event with a team on foot, a team in bicycle and 15 young volunteers who will help sort and position the participating teams in the procession.
The event “Pallavolo Senza Frontiere: Sfialta Inclusiva nel cuore di Modena” is organized in collaboration with Modena Amore Mio with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and Panathlon Modena.
SCOUT (Sport Clubs Opening Up To all girls’ Participation) focuses on institutionalized sports practises, or otherwise known as organized sports, which take place through sports federations and clubs. The focus on organized sport was chosen because clubs tend to be considered the privileged environment for sport, especially for children and adolescents. The evidence to date indicates that participation in institutionalized sports can play an important role in the development of a child, or adolescent, in several aspects: social, motor, emotional, behavioral and psychological. Practicing sports is at the epicenter of the extracurricular activities that children carry out today and which occupies them most outside of family environments (excluding school).
The partnership sees AE Carles Vallbona (Spain), as lead partner; Nancy Volley-Ball (France), Universidad de Vic (Spain) as academic parterns responsible for impact assesment; AIC (Germany), responsible for the implementation of the pilot program, and Anderlini who will take care of the communication and dissemination of the project.
